Meet July's Pets of the Month: Pomona & Lolita

Every month, we like to recognize some of our favorite four-legged friends as Dollar Bill Printing's Pet(s) of the Month. This July, we're introducing two cats who have fully embraced retirement.

Meet Pomona and Lolita Haze.

Last August, their owner, Ruth, retired from the University of Michigan. Apparently, Pomona and Lolita decided retirement sounded like a pretty good idea for them too.

Since then, they've settled into a lifestyle centered around the finer things in life: relaxing, lounging in the sun, and taking what Ruth estimates to be somewhere around 2,450 naps a day.

Pomona, a beautiful calico named after the Greek goddess of orchards, and Lolita Haze, an equally charming tabby, have become experts in the Italian philosophy of dolce far niente—the sweetness of doing nothing.

Of course, anyone who's ever owned more than one cat knows there's another challenge: getting both of them to cooperate for a photo.

Ruth recently accomplished exactly that, capturing a rare moment with both cats in the same picture—without a single hiss. We think that's worthy of an award all by itself.
